Personal care

The European Parliament has now agreed on a text for the Re-cast of the EC Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC). The new Cosmetic Regulation should be published in the Official Journal of the EU at the end of June. Because it will now be a Regulation rather than a Directive it becomes directly applicable in all EU member states. The Cosmetics Directive had been amended many times since being issued in 1976 and this new Regulation has streamlined these amendments into a single piece of legislation.

Food and Nutrition

The new EC Flavouring Regulation (EC) No. 1334/2008 was published in December 2008 with a transitional peroid of 24 months to ensure smooth transition.  The new EC Flavouring Regulation is part of FIAP (Food Improvement Agents Package).
FIAP consists of four Regulations:

Flavourings
Enzymes
Additives
Common Authorisation Procedures

All four parts of FIAP will have implications for our industries.
